The above illustration of a mother polar bear and her cubs is from my next picture book titled, MOTHER EARTH'S LULLABY: A Song for Endangered Animals. It is a beautiful poem written by Terry Pierce and illustrated by me. It will be released this fall by Tilbury House (October 16, 2018). It's a nighty night book of endangered species. I had an amazing time working on this project. One of my favorite things to paint are animals! This illustration of the yellow-footed wallaby is also from the book. The art is painted in acrylic on portrait canvas. The book can be pre-ordered on Amazon, just click on the art below. I recently did a post with a slideshow of all the wonderful photos from the Humphrey's First Christmas extravaganza at the Ladies Christmas Tea. Here is something fun that I just received, a short video clip of part of the Humphrey reading/play. A very cute performance by "Humphrey". I absolutely LOVE it! I hope you do too! Humphrey's First Christmas was honored at the Ladies' Christmas tea in Forest Lake MN. While Humphrey was being read, a group of actors performed the story in costume. You can see "Humphrey" talking with the camel master and climbing into his tent! I absolutely love it all. There were over 500 people in attendance! A beautiful Mug was also designed and appears on all of the tables! Thanks to everyone for selecting Humphrey's First Christmas to showcase at the Ladies' Christmas Tea!
Linda Haed Hodge has just posted a new chart with one of my angel illustrations. This angel is titled "You Are Special" and is from a card assignment I did for Doreen Virtue. It's one of my favorite images. This chart contains ninety colors of floss. Amazing! If you click on the angel image above it will take you to a page with more information. If you click on the Pegasus, it will take you to my Home Page at HAED, Heaven and Earth Designs and you can see other images of my art available now. More are to be released in the future!
Connie Halpern owner of Mrs. Figs will be reading Humphrey! It is not to be missed! I just received a wonderful letter from a teacher named Maria Allewelt, in Mombasa, Kenya! Maria read Humphrey's First Christmas to her class and was kind enough to send me photos! The looks on the children's faces were so sweet, and they are all so beautiful I feel compelled to paint portraits of them all! Here is a slideshow of those photos. I thought I'd also include a paragraph from Maria's letter that I thought was very cute. Humphrey's First Christmas "My name is Maria Allewelt. I am involved with a school in Kenya teaching religious education. Earlier this year I taught in a primary school near Mombasa. I was reading the book "Humphrey’s First Christmas"to the children. It's a funny and really sweet book. The kids laughed and enjoyed the book tremendously. After finishing reading I asked the children what they could give to Jesus, “What do you love most? Think carefully”, I encouraged them.. “What is your most prized possession?” After a few moments one boy raised his hand and said, “My mother!” Everybody laughed, even he. What a precious answer. He really loves his mom it would cost him dearly to live without her. We talked about their hearts, we can give Jesus our hearts, ourselves, that is the most treasured thing we can give to him." FYI These are links to Maria's sites. http://reflectinggodsgrace.blogspot.com http://www.rggministries.org I recently completed an assignment for the educational publisher Learning A-Z titled "A Place for Wild Things." I did twelve paintings for the book illustrating life on an estancia/ranch in Argentina. Such a remarkable place with a range of beautiful scenery and animal life.
I really enjoyed working on this project. Click on the cover below. It will take you to the publisher's site and you can see a small version of the entire book:
Here are the latest releases from Heaven and Earth Designs. These patterns are created from my original angel art appearing in two different Doreen Virtue card projects. It's amazing to think these images will be stitched by artists with dozens of hues of thread and look so much like the original painting. Incredible! |
