SLEEPING
BEAUTY IN THE WOOD: "Hurray! A brunette! In Heyer's vision, Sleeping
Beauty has hair of "a glorious, shimmering black," a pleasant
change of pace from the everlasting parade of blond princesses. Another
nice touch is that the princess is not only beautiful, but polite, sensible,
kind and possessed of "the wit of an angel." Hurray, again,
for a story that tells little girls beauty isn't the be-all and end-all.
Heyer's retelling is stately and dignified, and her lovely acrylic paintings
should fire kids' imaginations."

| SLEEPING BEAUTY IN THE WOOD: "Beautifully illustrated by the author, THE SLEEPING BEAUTY IN THE WOOD is the familiar fairy tale retold by Carol Heyer, who adds a few of her own interpretations both in pictures and text." | ||||||
