The launch for my 25th picture book, my silver anniversary book, HUMPHREY'S FIRST CHRISTMAS was amazing. It was a glorious day! Over sixty friends attended. There was a Humphrey cake and blanket cookies! The weather was wonderful, and everything was so much fun. It was held at America's Teaching Zoo at Moorpark College. We all got to see an animal show, which included an Emu and a Coyote! After the show we all went to another area to meet the guest star, "Humphrey!" aka Forest. I got to feed him carrots and pet him! The highlight of the day! All in all it was perfect! We had a blast!

I placed the young Ray Bradbury standing on the earth, but with his feet in the clouds. The books are emanating from the earth/Thousand Oaks Library and floating past the moon, the planets and out into the great learning library of the universe. I painted Ray Bradbury holding the planet mars in his hands, this was to illustrate his quotation and also to represent one of his most popular books, (and one of my favorites) THE MARTIAN CHRONICLES. ------ Carol Heyer |
